Dr. Kelly Chuang

Dr. Chuang is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their oral surgery experience. She believes that exceptional care begins with listening, taking the time to answer questions, and creating personalized treatment plans that help each patient achieve the best possible outcome.

Dr. Chuang joined Associates for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2026. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a distinction that reflects the highest standards of education, training, and clinical excellence in the specialty.

Education & Surgical Training

Dr. Chuang earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Biology and her Master of Health Science in Immunology from The Johns Hopkins University before receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Penn Dental Medicine.

Following dental school, she completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she gained advanced experience in the surgical management of head and neck cancer patients.

She then completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., a Level I trauma center, with comprehensive training in:

  • Maxillofacial trauma
  • Anesthesia
  • Critical care and emergency medicine
  • Orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery
  • General surgery
  • Plastic surgery
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)

During residency, Dr. Chuang was elected District II Representative for the Resident Organization of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, where she served on the Healthcare Policy and Coding Committee. She was also honored with the Dr. Andrea Marie Bonnick Award, recognizing an outstanding resident for clinical excellence, dedication, and commitment to service.

After completing her residency, Dr. Chuang practiced in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she further developed her expertise in orthognathic surgery and complex dental implant reconstruction while training alongside renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. DeMarcus Smith.

She maintains certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to provide the highest level of safety for patients undergoing oral surgery.

Dr. Chuang is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the International Team for Implantology, and remains committed to continuing education and incorporating the latest advances in oral and maxillofacial surgery into her patient care.

Life Outside the Office

Originally from Rochester, New York, Dr. Chuang enjoys exploring the outdoors and has quickly embraced the natural beauty of Southern Oregon. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, cooking, reading, writing, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts.
